It is strange to me how they build houses.
Walls should go all the way to the floor.
I would not be in a hurry if I built a house.
I would mortar old glass bottles as the core
Of thick walls that would let in light.
I would use junk yard metal, stained glass or
Woven rugs to divide the interior space into rooms.
A foot bridge and a stream of water would pour
Through my living room. Air would enter from a cave.
Winter sun would warm, summer trees shade my door.
It would be built slowly, formed as needs arise.
Sidewalks can wait for foot-paths to cover.
As if they'd let me do things the organic way
Or issue permits for unprofitable splendor.
